KEIO
Balancing rigid abstraction and the warmth of nature
The KEIO series, which encompasses both wall lamps and pendants, takes the cylinder and humanizes it. By exclusively employing organic, living materials such as solid wood and 100% Japanese kozo paper, balance is achieved. The light, gently permeating the tactile fibrous structure of the kozo paper, transforms the cold geometry into a warm, organic presence.

KEIO Wall lamp, 2026
Kozu paper, Rosita Wood and LED
7 x 90 cm - available in custom sizes

To accommodate varying architectural settings and requirements, both the wall and pendant lamps are created in numerous standard lengths, and they can furthermore be customized to the exact lengths and thicknesses dictated by the specific space.
Why the name "KEIO"?
Naming a piece is often irrelevant to its actual meaning. Yet, a name must be found. Bastian Higham argued that the series was predominantly conceived for larger professional interiors, such as modern workspaces, restaurants, hotels, etc. Bastian asked Steen Higham: “Which hotel that you have stayed at brings back particularly fond memories?” Steen reflected briefly and replied: “The Keio Hotel in Tokyo, where I stayed in the 1990s while traveling with Ole Palsby… The Keio Plaza Hotel, it was called.”

Curves of Life
Illuminating objects made of wood and Japanese kozu paper. Large, organically shaped shells of paper, floating in space, supported by penetrated wooden branches. Powerful and delicate. In dialogue with each other and the surroundings. Performing a dance.
